Welcome to Arborcrest Gardens, a 26-acre botanical garden located in Boone, NC. Described as one of the High Country’s “hidden gems,” our gardens are nestled at the foot of Howard's Knob mountain. We grow and evaluate over 14,000 different species and cultivars of trees, shrubs, perennials, ground covers and bulbs. We also maintain a large vegetable/fruit test garden and greenhouse. Arborcrest Gardens was established by Ron and Cheryl Stanley in 1989, initially covering about 5 acres. It was expanded to its current size beginning in 2009. Arborcrest is open year-round (weather permitting) to the public on Fridays, by reservation only.

Located within the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina at an elevation of 3,366ft, Aborcrest Gardens sits just inside the city limits of Boone, North Carolina. The town of Boone, also known as the 'Heart of the High Country' features the highest elevation of any town its size (population over 10,000) east of the Mississippi River. Boone is the home of Appalachian State University and is named for famous pioneer and explorer Daniel Boone.

Hours/Visiting:
The gardens are open on Fridays from 8AM-4PM year-round, (weather permitting). Groups and individuals may schedule a 2 hour guided electric vehicle tour — or may simply wander the 2.5 miles of paved trails at their leisure.
