Patterns of Change is a project that integrates both Graphic and Apparel Design to inform through data visualization on how weather patterns change over time due to littering, and the way recycling can contribute as a positive solution to address global climate change. The data is relevant to the country of Belize.
This project consists of showcasing a raincoat to reflect precipitation data from Belize on an annual average for the years 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2020, which highlights a comparison over a 20 year trend. Each bottle cap was recycled and glued onto a plastic raincoat. The ratio of the bottle caps to precipitation: one bottle cap equals one centimeter.
In addition to that, an infographic highlights trends of increase in Belize’s weather patterns on precipitation and temperature data, which is related to the rise of global climate change. It explains the way rain and plastic relate to each other.
