Tree of Tears

The Tree of Tears is a collaborative project. I designed and illustrated the visuals for this project, which is historical fiction.

A short summary of the story: It is based in Belize, and the story focuses on a couple who get married on a stormy day. An old woman warns that this is bad luck. The young couple live peacefully until tragedy knocks at their door. The husband goes to work at his milpa, but he does not return. The lady pleads for help from her neighbors to search for her husband. All that they find is his shattered canoe. The woman mourns and yearns for her husband until she passes away. She is buried near the river, and a Weeping Willow grows from her burial spot.
